Birds at Bay: A Morning Recount from Tripa de Galina Creek
On a cloudy morning with occasional drizzles, bird enthusiast EDP Liuag spent an hour observing the avifauna at Tripa de Galina Creek in Makati City, Philippines.
According to the observation data, a total of seven bird species were sighted during the trip. Among them, the Zebra Dove was recorded with a singular sighting, whereas the Eurasian Tree Sparrow dominated the count with nine observations.
Waterbirds also made a notable appearance, as Lee Liuag spotted four Black-crowned Night Herons settling in for the day. Meanwhile, a singular Little Egret was seen wading through the creek. Lee Liuag also encountered a Collared Kingfisher, which showcased remarkable agility. The Philippine Pied-Fantail rounded out the variety of these waterbirds.
Equally intriguing were the findings of EDP Liuag, who went home with an identification challenge in mind for the unidentified dark swiftlet that flew past. The Yellow-vented Bulbul also landed quietly, completing the observations.
Weather conditions were described as cloudy with temperatures at 25° Celsius.
The one-hour observation expedition took place under the protocol of a stationary setup.
