Birding in Brgy. Kuden: A Diverse Day of Observations
On August 25, 2025, Jeremy Ang embarked on a birding trip in Brgy. Kuden, Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat, Philippines. Alongside Jeremy was at least one other observer, as indicated by the protocol 'Traveling' and the presence of a second observer.
Over a period of 3 hours, covering a distance of only 1 kilometer, the group was able to spot an impressive 26 species of birds.
Some of the most notable sightings included large numbers of the Orange-bellied Flowerpecker (6 individuals), the Short-tailed Drongo (6 individuals), and the Rufous-crowned Bee-eater (5 individuals). The group also observed several other bird species, such as the Spotted Dove, various species of kingfishers, and multiple birds of prey and woodpeckers.
The observations also included comments from the observers. For instance, two individuals of the Mindanao Hornbill were seen on multiple occasions by the observers.
The group saw a mix of species that live on the forest floor, in trees, and even in some cases in the sky. Overall, this birding trip provided a great opportunity for observers to spot a broad range of species in their natural habitats.
