On August 25, 2025, a birding outing took place in Digos City, Davao del Sur, Philippines. The location was Dawis Road Fishpools, where a group of bird enthusiasts spent 1 hour and 40 minutes observing and recording various bird species.

During the observation period, a total of 27 bird species were spotted, including the Rock Pigeon, Red Collared-Dove, and Zebra Dove. Other notable sightings included the Eurasian Moorhen, White-breasted Waterhen, and Asian Glossy Starling, the latter of which was observed in considerable numbers, with a count of 40 individuals.

However, one of the highlights of the day was undoubtedly the large congregation of Wood Sandpipers, with a staggering 120 individuals seen during the outing. According to one of the observers, the birds were mostly resting but appeared to be nervous, often taking short flights when triggered by an airgun going off. The observer also noted the distinctive white rump and dark brownish upperparts of the birds in flight.

Other interesting sightings included the Blue-tailed Bee-eater, with its bright plumage and agile flight, and the Golden-bellied Gerygone, a small bird with a sweet, melodic song. Raptors and waterbirds also made an appearance, with a Black-crowned Night Heron and a Great Egret spotted among the group's findings.

The diversity of bird species observed during this outing is a testament to the rich avifauna of Digos City and its surroundings.
