Morning Birding at Makati's Tripa de Galina Creek
On August 25, 2025, EDP Liuag ventured out to Tripa de Galina Creek in Makati City to spot some of the region's avian residents. In just 26 minutes, they managed to record four species, despite the overcast conditions and a temperature of 27° Celsius during low tide.
Liuag's brief but productive spot of observation took place in the Bangkal area, on Rordriguez Street. While not a comprehensive list, their findings are significant, especially considering their restricted time frame.
Some of the notable birds recorded during the short observation period include:
* A solitary Black-crowned Night Heron
* A single Philippine Jungle Crow
* Three Yellow-vented Bulbuls, perhaps foraging in the creek's vicinity
* Three Eurasian Tree Sparrows
Their report indicates that a successful short excursion is possible with even limited time and the right habitat, a testament to Makati's hidden birding gems.
