Birdwatching Expedition Spotlights Unique Avian Fauna in Katibawasan Falls
On August 24, bird enthusiasts embarked on a 32-minute birdwatching adventure at Katibawasan Falls in Mambajao, Camiguin, Philippines. The team, comprising five participants, set out to document the area's avian life. Led by Diuvs De Jesus, the group traveled a distance of 0.148 km and identified five distinct bird species.
Their observations included sightings of three Ameline Swiftlets, suggesting a strong presence of these swift birds in the area. Meanwhile, three Philippine Jungle Crows were spotted, providing a glimpse into the local corvid population. A single individual of the endemic Camiguin Bulbul was also observed, highlighting the island's unique avifauna.
Other notable sightings included three Asian Glossy Starlings and two Orange-bellied Flowerpeckers. The team's brief but productive excursion offers a fascinating snapshot of the bird species found near Katibawasan Falls. Further exploration of this area could potentially uncover more secrets of its avian inhabitants.
