On a cloudy but bright morning, David Morrison stopped by the Sojoton View Coffee Shop in Linaon, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, Philippines for a brief birding session. In just 29 minutes, he managed to spot nine different species, a testament to the area's rich avifauna.

The list of birds observed included the Gray-rumped Swiftlet, a migratory bird often seen in the region; the Collared Kingfisher, whose piercing call echoed through the area; and the Visayan Tailorbird, a bird endemic to the Philippines. The Philippine Coucal, with its distinctive call, was heard but not seen. Other species observed included the Pied Triller, Black-naped Oriole, White-breasted Woodswallow, and Yellow-vented Bulbul. The Garden Sunbird and the Gray-rumped Swiftlet took the top spots in terms of numbers, with four and two sightings respectively.

David's comments during the observation period were straightforward. He noted it was a coffee stop amidst cloudy conditions. His observations provide invaluable insights into the variety of birds present in the area.
