Bird Encounters on Bohol's Loay Interior Road
On January 31, a solo birding trip took place along the Loay Interior Road in Bohol, Philippines. Scott Roberts, the sole participant, spent three hours and sixteen minutes observing birds in the area, covering a distance of approximately five kilometers.
The trip yielded sightings of three species, starting with the Philippine Trogon. Little is known about Scott's experience with this species, but its presence suggests the area's lush forests are home to a thriving avifauna. Next sighted was the White-bellied Woodpecker. Its wooden drumming calls, though not captured in the data, likely enhanced the forest's soundscape. Finally, Short-tailed Drongo sightings were noted, with this bird's striking coloration undoubtedly catching Scott's attention.
These encounters provide a glimpse into the rich biodiversity that can be found in Bohol's interior regions.
