Birds in the Foothills of Laguna
A recent birding trip conducted by EDP Liuag on January 29, 2025, in Ilaya, San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines, yielded a diverse selection of species. The birding effort, which lasted for 20 minutes under overcast conditions, counted a total of seven bird species within the observation area.
The most frequently observed species during this trip was the Philippine Jungle Crow, with six individuals spotted by EDP Liuag. Other notable sightings include the Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker, Yellow-vented Bulbul, Red-keeled Flowerpecker, Garden Sunbird, Chestnut Munia, and Eurasian Tree Sparrow, each observed in relatively small numbers.
The variety of bird species encountered suggests that the Ilaya area in San Pablo City maintains a healthy and diverse bird population, worthy of further scientific exploration and conservation efforts.
