On January 10, 2025, a group of four bird enthusiasts embarked on a birding trip along Nuvali Boulevard in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines. During their 1-hour excursion, they spotted a total of six bird species, showcasing the region's fascinating avifauna.

One of the earliest highlights was the Blue-tailed Bee-eater, with two individuals caught in the participants' gaze. The vibrant plumage of these birds was a treat for the eyes, with their iridescent feathers glistening in the morning sunlight.

The group also encountered a pair of Coppersmith Barbet, a striking species known for its vibrant red throat patch. These birds were a delight to observe, flitting between trees as they foraged for food.

The Brown Shrike was another notable sighting, with five individuals observed during the trip. This species is known for its slaty blue-gray plumage and distinctive song, which was unfortunately not captured during the trip.
