Birding Bliss at Bacolod Golf & Country Club: A Morning of Feathered Delights
On January 10, 2025, David Morrison embarked on a leisurely birding trip at the picturesque Bacolod Golf & Country Club in Murcia, Negros Occidental, Philippines. While golfing, Morrison managed to squeeze in a 2-hour and 25-minute birding adventure, covering a whopping 7.5 kilometers.
As he wandered through the golf course, Morrison's keen eyes spotted a total of 10 bird species, including the striking Zebra Dove, the majestic Brahminy Kite (2 sightings), and the melodious Golden-bellied Gerygone (though only audible, not visual).
Other notable sightings included the vibrant Philippine Oriole, the industrious Philippine Pied-Fantail (2 sightings), and the Visayan Tailorbird (2 sightings, though only heard). The Barn Swallow was the most abundant species, with an impressive 18 individuals counted.
Morrison also had the pleasure of observing a single Garden Sunbird and 10 Eurasian Tree Sparrows.
