On January 9, 2025, a solo birder, Peter Widmann, spent 12 minutes observing the avian life along Puerto Princesa South Road in Narra, Palawan, Philippines. His stationary observation yielded an impressive nine species count, making for a fascinating birding excursion.

Wandering Whistling-Ducks were the most abundant species, with 26 individuals documented. Rock Pigeons (Feral Pigeons) numbered 4, while Spotted Doves and Eurasian Moorhens followed with 2 and 10 birds, respectively. The Crake family was represented by the White-browed Crake, with 3 individuals observed.

Four species of terns were spotted, including the Whiskered Tern (7), White-winged Tern (2), and two unidentified terns (7). Medium Egrets, with their striking white and orange plumage, were seen in pairs, with 2 individuals noted.

Peter Widmann's birding excursion served as a reminder of the rich birdlife that thrives along Puerto Princesa South Road. The diversity of species observed underscores the importance of preserving and protecting these habitats for the benefit of both birds and humans.
