On January 8, 2025, a determined bird enthusiast ventured out to C's Residence in Quezon, Philippines, and was rewarded with an exciting birding experience. During a 20-minute stationary observation, the keen-eyed observer spotted a total of four bird species.

The star of the show was the Brown-breasted Kingfisher, with its distinctive brown breast and royal blue back. This elegant bird was caught on camera, providing a rare glimpse into the lives of these fascinating creatures.

Among the trees, the observer was treated to the cheerful songs of the Balicassiao, which flew in pairs, their striking yellow beaks and dark wings a delight to behold. This species, also known as the "Cinereous Tit-Babbler," is a common sight in the Philippines, but it's always a pleasure to spot them up close.

As the observer sipped their morning coffee, they were accompanied by the cheerful chirping of the Yellow-vented Bulbul. This resident bird is known for its bold yellow feathers under its tail, and this observer was thrilled to catch a glimpse of their bright plumage.

Rounding out the list was the Garden Sunbird, with its vibrant orange-red throat patch and grayish-back. This tiny bird is a common sight in backyards and gardens across the Philippines, but its bright colors never fail to impress.
