Birding Bonanza at Tripa de Galina Creek
A chilly morning on January 8th, 2025, greeted birder EDP Liuag as they embarked on a 1 hour and 15 minute stationary observation session along Tripa de Galina Creek in Bangkal, Makati City. The cloudy skies and 25°C temperature set the stage for a memorable birding trip.
As the tide began to recede, Liuag patiently recorded 14 species of birds, starting with the Zebra Dove and Ameline Swiftlet. The Whiskered Tern took center stage, with an impressive count of 30 individuals. The Black-crowned Night Heron and Little Egret were also spotted in significant numbers, with 3 and 14 birds respectively.
Among the other notable sightings were the Common Kingfisher, Coppersmith Barbet, Golden-bellied Gerygone, Brown Shrike, Pacific Swallow, Yellow-vented Bulbul, Red-keeled Flowerpecker, and Eurasian Tree Sparrow. While Liuag's patience paid off, it's clear that this trip was a treat for the senses, with so many intriguing species on display.
