A Morning Birds and Brews at River Beans Resto
On a sunny January 7th morning, David Morrison grabbed a cup of coffee and took a brief but enjoyable birding break at River Beans Resto, Ilog, Negros Occidental, Philippines. During his 20-minute stroll along the 0.13-kilometer stretch near the restaurant, he spotted six bird species.
The Rock Pigeon (Feral Pigeon), a common urban bird, was seen three times. The Red Collared-Dove made a brief appearance, with just one sighting. The Pacific Swallow and Barn Swallow, both swallows, were spotted a combined total of 62 times, with the Barn Swallow being the clear winner.
The Asian Glossy Starling made a lone appearance, and the Eurasian Tree Sparrow was seen five times. The warm and bright weather perhaps contributed to the birds' activity, and David's observation was the perfect way to break up his day, combining his love of birds and coffee.
